Anti-Racism Training

September 27th-28th, 2008

St. Louis was selected by Call To Action as one of four communities, in which an anti-racism training will occur.  Trainers from Crossroads will offer a non violent anti-racism training to introduce new information and uncover old socializations that have kept institutional racism intact and unidentifiable.  There will be a two day weekend training session in which participants will gain a realistic view of how racism impacts the lives of both, people of color and and white people.  We will explore local applications.  In the two following months, participants will read and discuss study materials to deepen and broaden their understanding.  Then a one day training will be provided to reinforce our understanding and forge a commitment from participants to work actively and intentionally to change their attitudes and behavior regarding race relations and the impact of racial oppression.  It will empower the people to set realistic personal and chapter related goals to address institutionalized racism.

Participants need to be willing to dedicate one weekend in September, meeting once a week to explore race issues in the following two months, and then another day at the conclusion of this in-depth experience.
